What we eat and drink can affect our body’s ability to prevent, fight and recover from infections.

Here are few tips to help speeded up your recovery and  increase your immunity in this fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

🔥 Protein is the top priority as it ensures muscle recovery & restoration. Incorporate protein- rich  foods to get enough vitamins and minerals to help with the recovery process.

Make sure to add 1 portion of protein to each meal you eat to keep the hormonal balance in place.

Proteins

 

🔥 Eat fresh, unprocessed and fiber rich foods that help to build a robust immune system and fight infections.

 

🔥 Colour your diet with a variety of  fruits and vegetables to get a range of the vital micronutrients.

 

🔥 Fresh   fruits will help in detoxifying your cells and citrus fruits can be a good source of the much needed Vitamin – C which helps in the formation of antibodies

Fruits

 

🔥 Consume eggs, soybeans, mushroom, lentils, pulses and walnuts to include Vitamin D in your diet.

 

🔥 Boost your energy with calorie-dense foods. Add whole-grain cereals like wheat, millets, oats, brown rice and starchy roots such as potato, sweet potato.

Vegetables

 

🔥 Include enough sources of healthy dairy into your daily diet to help with gut health and increase good bacteria

 

🔥 Cut down on salt, sugar and high sodium condiments. Limit your daily salt intake to less than 5 g.

 

🔥 Avoid industrially produced trans and saturated fats and instead add unsaturated heart-healthy fats like avocado, nuts, olive oil, soy, canola, sunflower and corn oils to your daily meal plan. Also, increase the proportion of omega-3 fatty acids.

Water Fluids

 

🔥 Remember to start with small frequent meals 4-6 times per day or eat every couple of hours.

 

But most importantly, don’t forget to hydrate yourself! It plays a vital role in flushing out the toxins. Water is the ideal choice, but you can also have other fluids like coconut water, lemon juice or fruits and vegetables that contain water.
